TEAM TUTSHAM'S NEWS

Horsing around at Pony Camp.

This years pony camp was a great success. The children got to spend all day with their favourite pony for an entire week! They had a chance to bond with their ponies and get to know them even more. As the group were all capable riders they got to go out on hacks that were over 2 hours long! As well as this they had some lessons which included flat work and jumping. The group had a great time, reinforced their friendship groups and all left tired but happy. Its always a highlight of the year at Team Tutsham.

Pony Camp meet Dan Watson

This years pony camp children were fortunate enough to go to Fiddlers green stud for a tour, meet the horses and watch GB rider Dan Watson exercise his horses including Fideramber (affectionally known as Freddie) who Dan rides on the international Grand Prix stage. Whilst we were the we also met Alex Wyatt, Dans partner, who is a very competant Eventer and Pure Dressage rider. The whole experience was fantastic and the children from Team Tutsham all had their favourite horses, little Tuppence, FGStud mascot was a firm favourite!Being able to see such experienced and knowledgeable riders has inspired the children who, in the afternoon, went home and practised schooling their ponies! Thank you SO much to Dan, Alex and assistant yard manager Lydia Hall for spending time with us and showing us round

Our Patron comes to visit!

On a sunny July evening our new patron came to look around Tutsham farm! It was great to get the chance to meet Daniel Watson while he is back in the UK for a short while before he is off competing again.
For those of you who don't know who he is, Daniel Watson is a British International Grand Prix Dressage Rider based in Kent. He is a regular member of GB Nations Cup teams and competes in dressage competitions all over the UK and Europe throughout the year. Daniel loves to teach others the skills behind dressage and is also the Chairman of British Dressage Southern Region.
Daniel recently referenced Team Tutsham on his Facebook page..."Pleased to say I am now Patron for the Kent based charity TeamTutsham.co.uk, they help under privileged children to gain valuable contact with horses".
It is great for the Team Tutsham Charitable Trust to have such a recognised rider on board and we are very proud to have his support.

Sleep Tight Charlie

In May one of Team Tutshams beloved horses was put to sleep. Through no fault of anyone we were instructed from the vet to have him put to sleep after he contracted an illness that was devastatingly untreatable. His illness was not contagious and to all those who saw Charlie jumping on Sunday, looking a picture of health, please keep that memory with you.

Charlie was an exceptionally special horse who we had for nearly five years, those who were privileged enough to have known and loved Charlie will remember how cheeky he could be, to sometimes even come home without his rider.

We will all miss Charlie dearly and would like to say thank you to all Charlie’s friends for looking after him. He was a very happy horse and we take comfort in knowing he was never mistreated, cold, hungry or lonely.

His memory and spirit will stay with us for years to come.

BONFLEUR HUNTER TRIALS

A group of our riders took part in Bonfleurs Hunter Trials, competing in both individual and pairs classes. We were very lucky with the weather and horses and riders had a great day. A special well done to Jess Reynolds and Chloe Millgate who flew round the course achieving 6th place in novice pairs on Star and JJ.

There were some spooky fences from jumps decorated with brightly coloured fruit to miniature oast houses, but every horse was brave as they tackled the fence and loved every minute.

Well done to everyone that took part, horse and rider!

SPONSOR A PONY

We are looking for people and businesses to sponsor a few of our ponies, to ensure they remain fit and healthy for the children that come to us at Team Tutsham. The cost is just £30 a month and could help make a change to someone’s life. Your support will be recognised on our banners, newsletters and website.

SAND SCHOOL ON THE WAY!!

We are currently really busy fundraising so we can build a sandschool. It will make such a huge difference to be able to ride on a proper surface and have a riding arena we can use all year round. We are always open to suggestions on how to develop Team Tutsham so if you have any ideas or can help yourself then please contact us.

RIDE FOR LIFE

In the summer two members of Team Tutsham took park in Speedgates Ride for Life, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The ride covered approximately 10 miles of off-road hacking with a variety of natural and fixed cross-country jumps along the way.

Horses and riders had great fun, and proudly collected their medals at the finish line. More importantly they managed to raise over £170 for Cancer Research UK.
