Riding Activities

Team Tutsham offer a range of riding activities and all our ponies are suitable for our children's use.
Children are matched with a pony for the day based on the activity and their riding ability and we aim to provide consistency for both child and pony so that they can develop a bond together.

We have around 35 horses and ponies at Team Tutsham and they range in size from 10hh to 17.2hh. If you wish to situate your own pony at Team Tutsham please contact us directly.

To take part in any of our Riding Activities or to join Saddle Club (restricted numbers so please call to confirm) please contact Maxine Buckby on 07971 298337.

Saddle Club

Saddle Club takes place every Saturday from 10am-3pm.
The day has a similar routine each week starting with the children bringing in all the Team Tutsham ponies and horses we are going to be using that day.
The children groom their ponies and then we split them up into appropriate riding levels and each group has around 1 hours riding.
Children bring packed lunch and stay for the whole day.

Children who come to the Saddle Club also have the opportunity to go to our in-house shows and on occasion they go to shows at other venues so they can have a go and show off their developing skills which is a lovely confidence booster for them.

We also have Pony Camp on the last weekend of August which Saddle Club children are invited too.

Please do give us a call and book a visit to come and have a chat about joining our Saddle Club and meet some of the ponies.

Hacking

Team Tutsham is fortunate enough to be located on 120 acres of natural countryside to allow us to provide fun, safe hacks for all our riders.

There are a number of bridleways nearby with beautiful scenic routes round the Kent countryside offering relaxing rides, as well as plenty of opportunity for exciting fast paced rides for the more adventurous.

The use of quiet country lanes make local orchards, fields and woods accessible, which provide popular hacking routes. Hacks vary in length of time and pace to suit each rider’s abilities and requirements.

In addition, we hold our much anticipated annual Boxing Day ride, which is a favourite amongst the team at Tutsham Farm, though all riders in the surrounding area are always welcome to join us. Keeping with the Christmas theme, this fast paced hack takes us to The North Pole and beyond, and includes natural jumps along the way.

Show Jumping

Team Tutsham boast a full set of high spec, quality show jumps which vary greatly in shapes and sizes, from skinny styles to brick walls and spreads. The bright colour and pattern combinations make it both interesting and challenging for our horses and riders.

Our riders are regularly given the opportunity to compete at local shows, with various show jumping competitions just a short distance from the farm. We also take our horses and ponies to showing classes – in hand and ridden so there is something for everyone.

Although we travel to shows we also hold our own show jumping competitions with the opportunity for everyone to compete, from bottom hole and lead rein jumping up to intermediate and open classes.

Cross Country

We are particularly privileged at Team Tutsham to have our own cross-country course consisting of a number of unusual and exciting jumps at varying heights, plus a large water complex, which has a shallow beach entry and exit, along with a steeper jump in and out of the water for the more adventurous.

The course follows the river which runs alongside to provide fantastic views, and also links to a small private wood with a clear route round. The track is set on varying levels of ground and has even been enjoyed by local hunts.
It really is a must for anyone who enjoys a fast paced riding experience.
