Team Tutsham - Who are we?

We are a multi-award winning registered charity supporting a diverse local community. Situated on a large farm in West Farleigh, surrounded by the beautiful Kent countryside, Team Tutsham supports disadvantage and vulnerable children and young people. We provide them with not only the opportunity to learn to ride and care for the ponies, but help to build strong building blocks and skills to take with them into adulthood. This could be through improving independance, responsibility, team working, social skills, work based skills, work experience or completing an accredited course with us run through ASDAN. We work with specialist schools and via links with social services.

Riding School of the Year 2021 Awarded by the Equestrian Business Awards

We run an award winning riding school which helps us to fund the charity. We are not your average riding school, hence the recognition from the Equestrian Business Award. This was a national award that we are immensely proud of. Everyone brings something different to the farm which is why its so special. Team by name, Team by nature and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Maidstone Borough Council have awarded us a Five Star Riding School status in recognition of the high standard of horse and pony care and our riding facilities.

Testimonial

"Since joining last year, my daughter has had such a wonderful experience with Team Tutsham.

My daughter has autism, adhd and suffers with anxiety and functional tic disorder. She attends a special needs school and although she is academically very capable, she struggles with socialising. She has tried over the years to attend riding lessons. She has always loved horses, she finds them calming, along with all other animals.

Every riding school we have tried has ended with her losing her confidence due to the lack of understanding from staff and instructors about her struggles. Often other children can end up teasing her due to her getting upset and anxious in lessons.
We had just about given up when I came across Team Tutsham. After a visit we decided to give it a go. And I am so thankful that we did.

My daughter loves her Saturdays at Team Tutsham. Not only have her riding skills improved but her confidence has grown hugely. All the staff are so welcoming and understanding. Never pushing her to do anything she isn't confident to do but equally challenging and encouraging her just enough to make great progress. There is none of the usual teasing from children as all the children seem to just accept each other's uniqueness and support each other. She loves helping the younger children and benefits from the support of the more experienced riders.

Because of her experience with Team Tutsham she is thinking of attending an equine college after her GCSE's next year. That is not something that I would ever have thought possible.

I cannot thank you all enough for what you have done and continue to do for us. Children's mental health and wellbeing is hugely improved by the inclusive atmosphere you have created at Team Tutsham.

And what an added bonus for a young person to spend their weekend out in the fresh air. No video games or screens in sight. My daughter comes home exhausted and happy with a sense of pride and achievement."

We are Brachers Charity of 2023 - 2025 and are very grateful for their support not only with fundraising , but also the hours they spend at the farm volunteering their time to help us! They are improving our childrens play area and Tutsham therapy garden. Thank you!
